What is Hematopathology?

Hematopathology is the clinical study directed at blood, lymph nodes and bone marrow. Typically, the primary conditions you might come across in this part of medicine are lymphoma, leukemia and anemia.

Heme-based diagnoses are often complex and require numerous rounds of tests and analysis to conclude a final diagnosis. As a qualified expert, below are just some of the conditions that I specialise in and can help you understand your results:

  • Hodgkins Lymphoma
  • Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma
  • Acute and Chronic Leukemias
  • Polycythemia Vera
  • Primary Myelofibrosis (PMF)
  • Essential Thrombocythemia (ET)
  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Histiocytic and dendritic cell neoplasms
  • Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma
  • Post-transplant related lymphomas
  • Follicular lymphoma
  • Mycosis fungoides
  • Anaplastic large cell lymphoma
  • Sickle Cell anemia
  • Iron deficiency anemia
  • B12/Folate anemia
  • Mastocytosis
  • Thalessemias
  • Metastatic Disease to Lymph Node
  • Infections

Arriving to a final answer uses numerous medical processes and techniques such as differential diagnosis. These processes are often not explained to a patient with only the final diagnosis conveyed to them by a doctor. I will take my time and explain to you each result from your tests, their implications and what conditions were ruled out at every point. When presented with a diagnosis with potentially life-long impacts, it is important to understand how it was arrived to and I aim to give you just that - clarity.
